Who these terms cover

These terms apply to every piece of design or artwork commissioned from Contempuurary, trading name of Corey McLeod. Accepting a quote or paying an invoice means you accept these terms.

In these terms, I and me mean Contempuurary. You means the person or business commissioning the work.

Scope of work

Every project starts from a written brief that we both agree. The brief sets out the deliverables, the file formats, what the work will be used for and the deadline.

Anything not written into that brief is not included. New requests are quoted separately.

Pricing

Artwork starts at £60 GBP. The final price depends on the project, and is set by these factors:

• Complexity of the project
• Number and type of deliverables
• Commercial or personal use
• Project timeline
• Licensing
• Number of design directions required

A quote is fixed once you accept it. If the brief changes after that point, I will requote before carrying on.

Currencies and payment

I invoice in GBP, USD or EUR. Payment is taken in full before work begins. Your slot in the schedule is held once the payment clears.

Bank charges, card fees and currency conversion costs are yours to cover.

What I need from you

You provide everything the project needs at the start. That includes copy, logos, fonts, photography, brand guidelines, references, and any technical or brand constraints I need to work inside.

By sending me material you confirm you have the right to use it and to pass it to me. If material arrives late or incomplete, the deadline moves by the same amount of time.

Revisions

Each project includes [NUMBER TO CONFIRM] rounds of revisions, set out in the quote. A round means one consolidated set of feedback, sent in one go.

Revisions cover refinements inside the agreed brief. A change of direction is new work and is quoted separately. Extra rounds beyond those included are charged at [RATE TO CONFIRM].

Timelines

Timelines are agreed per project and start from the day payment clears and all materials have been received, whichever is later.

Rush jobs and work outside normal hours are quoted at a higher rate.

Ownership and licensing

I own the copyright in everything I make until the invoice is paid in full. Once it is paid, you get the licence set out in the quote.

Personal use covers non commercial use only. Commercial use covers advertising, merchandise, resale, or anything else that makes money, and is priced accordingly.

Unless the quote says otherwise, a licence is non exclusive and does not include reselling the work, sublicensing it, or registering it as a trade mark. Exclusive rights and a full transfer of copyright are both available, and are priced separately.

Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 I keep the right to be identified as the author of the work.

Working files

You receive the final files listed in the brief. Editable source files, such as layered or project files, are not included by default and are quoted separately.

Third party material

Fonts, stock images, plugins and any other licensed assets a project needs are charged to you at cost unless the quote says otherwise. Keeping those licences valid after delivery is your responsibility.

Portfolio use

I may show finished work in my portfolio, on social media and in awards entries. If a project is confidential or under embargo, tell me before it starts and I will hold it back until you say otherwise.

Cancellation

If you cancel after work has started, the payment already made covers the work done up to that point and is not refundable. If any part of the fee relates to work not yet started, I refund that part.

If I cannot complete a project for any reason, I refund the portion not yet worked on and hand over whatever has been completed.

Consumer cancellation rights

If you are a consumer rather than a business, distance selling rules normally give you 14 days to cancel. That right does not apply to goods or services made to your specification or clearly personalised, which is what commissioned artwork is.

By paying and asking me to begin, you agree that work starts immediately and that the 14 day cancellation right does not apply.

Approval and proofing

Checking the final files is your responsibility. That includes spelling, dates, contact details, pricing, bleed and colour setup.

Once you approve a file, any cost of correcting or reprinting it is yours.

Liability

I take reasonable care with every project, but I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost business or lost data.

My total liability for any project is limited to the amount you paid me for it. Printing, production, hosting and platform costs are yours.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute falls to the courts of England and Wales.
